How to Drive Traffic to Your Blog With Twitter


What is Twitter?

Twitter is a social network that is free to sign up for. You will be allowed to create a profile, upload a picture, and follow friends, family, and celebrities. Unlike other social media platforms, anyone can publicly follow you without your approval. 

There are over 500 million Twitter users making Twitter one of the great traffic drivers on social websites. If you use it well, twitter can bring your blog or website heavy traffic. You really need to be active, and creative and have lots of quality content to make your readers want to keep on coming back for more.

Recently Twitter had changed the name to X even though it still works as Twitter. The features haven’t been changed yet. You will find out that the Twitter website will switch to X.com.

 

How to Open Twitter Account

 

Step 1

Go to X.com/signup.

 

Step 2

Click the sign up button. 

 

Step 3

A Create your account pop up box will appear, and you’ll be guided through our sign up experience. You’ll be prompted to enter information such as your name and phone number or email address.

 

Step 4

If you provided an email address while signing up, we will immediately send you an email with instructions so we can verify your email address.

 

Step 5

If you provided a phone number while signing up, we will immediately send you a text message with a code so we can verify your number.  

 

Step 6

After entering your information, click Next.

 

Step 7

In the Customize your experience pop up box, check whether you’d like to track where you see X content across the web and click Next.


How to Sign up for an X Account 


Step 1

Go to X.com.

 

Step 2

Click on Continue with Google.

 

Step 3

A Choose an account pop-up box will appear.

 

Step 4

Choose the Google account you’d like to use. If you don’t see the account you want to use, click on Add account.

 

Step 5

In the Customize your experience pop-up box, check whether you’d like to track where you see X content across the web and click on Next.

 

How to Pick a Username
 

  • Your username, also known as a "handle," is the name your followers use when sending replies, mentions, and Direct Messages.
  • It will also form the URL of your X profile page.
  • X will provide a few available suggestions when you sign up.
  • You should feel free to choose your own.
  • Choose a username that is the same as your website name.
  • You can change your username in your account settings at any time.
  • Usernames must be fewer than 15 characters in length.
  • They cannot contain "admin" or "X", in order to avoid brand confusion.
  • You can sign up for a X account with an email address or phone number. 
  • You can sign up with an email address.
  • You verify it through a confirmation email that will be sent to you.
  • And an email address can only be associated with one X account at a time.
  • You can sign up with a phone number.
  • You will verify it through an SMS text message with a code.

 

How to Bring Traffic to Your Blog With Twitter

 

1. Add a Picture or Image

  • A cool and attractive picture or image in your blog post tweet will definitely attract traffic to your site.
  • Just make sure that it coordinates with your post.
  • Make sure to put in a picture or logo.

 

2. Create a “bio” Description

  • Create a  relevant but short “bio” description.
  • Place your website or blog URL in your "bio" description.

 

3. Start Tweeting

  • Make a habit of tweeting at least once a day, if not more.
  • Start following people, developing a community, and posting daily for about 2 months, since your account will be new and without followers. After that, you can start looking for followers.
  • Follow people who have lots of followers.
  • Try building 20 followers in a week from community posts and discussion forums.
  • This is when you can start tweeting.
  • Make short and interesting Tweets.
  • There are about 140 words that you are allowed to post.
  • Get creative with ‘links” as you tweet them.

 

 4. Use # Hashtags 

  • Hashtags are a great way to spread your tweets to various topics.
  • Hashtag is a word or two behind a # that makes a common discussion subject.
  • If anyone tweets using your hashtag, it will show up in the feed for that #hashtag search.
  • This will help you generate more interest in your blog or website and more traffic as well.
  • You can use #hashtags with your keyword on Twitter.


5. Use @mentions

  • A mention is how you include Twitter users’ @usernames. They are a way you can send a tweet directly to followers, customers, or anyone on Twitter.
  • Use @mentions to send a tweet directly to followers, customers, or anyone else on Twitter.
  • If your blog post comments on well-known or popular bloggers, website masters, companies, or customers, mention them in a tweet that links back to your post.
  • You might get lucky and your tweet will be retweeted.
  • Mention people who’ve made good comments on your blog post, too. This is a great way to thank your loyal blog readers.
  • You can also mention the author of the blog post. Whether they are a guest blogger, a new blogger, or even a regular blogger on your site, mention them in a tweet that links back to their post.
  • It’s a nice gesture, and will likely result in a retweet to their followers.

 

6. Include a Fascinating Quote from Post

  • Give your followers a taste of your blog post by including a captivating quote from your article.
  • Try to find a quote that gives a flavor of the content of your post.
  • If your followers like your quote, and retweet it, they are also likely to click through to your website.

 

7. Mention Names of the Blog Post and Blogger

  • Make it a habit to mention the author or name of the blog post or, maybe a guest blogger on your blog.
  • If you also mention the name of the blog post or, a guest blogger on your blog post and in a tweet that links back to their post, you might get lucky and get a retweet from their followers.
 

8. Retweet their Tweets

  • If someone mentions your blog or website content on their Twitter, make sure you retweet their tweet.
  • If your followers like your “quote”, make sure that you always retweet it.

 

9. Ask for a Retweet

  •  Asking for a retweet (or RT) is a fab way of getting your blog-related tweets retweeted. 
  • So make it a habit of asking your followers to retweet, or RT your update.

 

10. Ask Questions

  • Always ask a question” that could arouse curiosity or make readers instantly click on your tweet.
  • Asking a question generates lots of engagement thus making you get more clicks to your blog or site.

 

11. Create Contest, Sweepstake and Competition

  • Set up a contest, sweepstakes and competition on your website or blog to give the new readers a reason to visit.
  • This will create traffic as they make a comeback.
